FACT
State song of Louisiana? "You are My Sunshine" which became the state song in
1977. Jimmie Davis, two time Louisiana governor is often given credit
for the song, but while it was popularized during his initial campaign
run, it was actually written by Georgia string band leader Paul Rice in
the 1930's.

Four years after Hurricane Katrina, music celebrities still care about helping out New
Orleans. U2's The Edge donated
instruments to 2,700 musicians via the Music Rising organization,
helping out locals and schools alike. Also in the giving spirit? My Morning Jacket & Rage Against The Machine's
Tom Morello, who have both performed benefit shows, and hip hoppers P. Diddy
& JAY-Z, who've pitched in with big checks.
