After attending a Jazz Fest in the 90s, superstar Lenny Kravitz moved to New Orleans. Fortunately for Lenny, NOLA people let him, and other celebs, be:
"People in New Orleans don't care, man. They say, "Hey, What's Up." They know me from the neighborhood."
Lenny Kravitz - he's just a neighborhood guy.
SHOWS
If you're going to see a live performance of a movie on the one day of the year where EVERYONE dresses up, you might as well see a classic in which everyone dresses up; we speak, of course, of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Go to Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Westwego Performing Arts Center on Saturday night for the 7:30 or 10:30 shows and get your Time Warp on. (Westwego Performing Arts Center, 177 Sala Ave, Westwego)
EATS
Anselmo's Restaurant run by the father of Down frontman Phil Anselmo is
said to have some of the best Italian food in the area. Found in
Metairie, it was also recently received a "best soft shell crab in
NOLA" award. So try the Italian food... and the soft shell crab! (Anselmo's Restaurant, 3401 N Hullen, Metairie)
SHOP
Looking for a store that successfully combines a million things you don't really
need but are nonetheless endlessly fascinating? Check out Bootsy's Fun Rock'n at 3109 Magazine Street. Plus you make your own atypical
New Orleans t-shirt with their iron-on-while-you wait service. Friendz Forever! (Bootsy's Fun Rock'n, 3109 Magazine St, between 8th and 9th Sts)
COOL SH*T
Visit St. Louis Cemetery #1 and check out the grave of
Voodoo Queen, Marie LaVeau. How do you ask her spirit for help? According the Silversun Pickups, "you have to knock 3x, spin around 3x and
mark 3 X's on the gravestone- but don't use markers!" (Saint Louis Cemetery No. 1, 420 Basin Street, between Conti and Saint Louis).
HORROR
House of Shock
is not only the most intense haunted house in America, but its side
shows keep guests entertained while you wait. The Atone Tribe will
thrill you with their human suspension & piercing act, the Reverend B.
Dangerous will gross you out with his freak show as he inflicts his
body with screwdrivers, drills & firecrackers, and Halloween night
you'll be treated to a live performance by the band Goatwhore. Now that's a Halloween worth piercing yourself for. (House Of Shock, 319 Butterworth St, near Mehurin St)
SIGHTING
That crazy Gene Simmons and his wife Shannon are in town shooting Gene Simmons Family Jewels, so not only will you see him onstage with KISS at Voodoo Saturday night, but you might see him shooting around town.
And one of the cooler celeb sightings in recent memory? Jane's Addiction checking into their downtown hotel Friday night (really, early Saturday morning). Perry rolled in with a smile, Stephen Perkins relaxed on a lobby sofa, and Dave Navarro rolled in his own Louis Vuitton roller bag. Yes, he was wearing a shirt.

Famous sometime New Orleans resident Trent Reznor on the dangers of living in a famous hood:
"Living in the Garden District, I became a part of the Anne Rice tour, I think. You could ask any cab driver and they could take you to my front door if you wanted to. I bought this place that had a nice balcony around the house. I thought this would be great so I could have coffee out on the balcony, but on the first day, I realized, “Oh, there’s a walking tour of 20 people watching me in my underpants."
Trent doesn't live in town anymore, but if you're curious to check out his old digs, head to 2425 Coliseum Street, near 1st Street.
SHOWS
Tonight, the legendary Meat Puppets play a FREE show at French Quarter hotspot One-Eyed Jacks, a Trent Reznor-recommended renovated Vaudeville theatre that is a second home to local and national heavy rock acts. Tell the owner Brian that Fuse sent you. (One Eyed Jacks, 615 Toulouse St at Chartres)

(Parasol's Bar, 2533 Constance St, between 2nd and 3rd Sts)

Like regular people, ghosts are into celebs. Nicolas Cage found that out after moving into a place he insists was haunted. Discussing $3.5 million home in the French Quarter on Letterman, Cage said "It is allegedly the most severely haunted house in the United States of America. “Some people have beach-front property, I have ghost-front property." See pics here.

Can you handle the most intense haunted attraction in the country? Then head to the House Of Shock, a spectacle of fright started by Phil Anselmo of Pantera fame, along with friends Steve J., Jay and Ross. (House Of Shock, 319 Butterworth St, near Mehurin St)
