WHOA. NO WAY.
Yeah, way. They finally gave me an invite to this... I guess two weeks before my internship ENDS is better than nothing, yes, rocklings? So this coming weekend I was totally supposed to go see Bayside in Albany, but I found out the show starts at 7, making it impossible to get there from NYC in time to make it. Bummer. I might still try and go late, we'll see. They're rad. Tomorrow night I'm going to see Ted Leo + The Pharmacists,
they're playing kinda near my 'hood, in Williamsburg. I live in Bushwick, but it's as close as shows get :) I LOVE THEM. I had a ticket to a show of theirs in Albany on the night before my 2005 high school graduation (taking place at 9:30 am) and my brother wound up flaking out on me, leaving me with no ride and two tickets. Real cool. Moral of the story is that you shouldn't buy tickets to a show unless you're pretty sure your brother is actually going to follow through on his promises. THANKS GAVIN.
Moving on, guess who I did see last week? PARAMORE (Pa-ra-mer as Steven pronounces it) and THE STARTING LINE. So so so good. I can't even express how happy I was to get to see this sold out show. I've seen TSL five times now, and Paramore twice (the first time was at Warped so it wasn't a full set really). Hayley is so cute. I don't understand how one gets so adorable. I have a girl fan crush on her, for sure. Speaking of crushes, Kenny Vasoli cut his hair and I love it. So much better... hehe.
Also, what do you guys think about tattoos? I am supposed to be getting inked (for the first time) sometime in February with a friend. I'm scarrrreddd. Also I don't want it to be too overwhelming on me, I'm kinda short and a girl so I'm not really going for the whole "full sleeves and chest piece". Planning on getting the
Thursday dove and the Jimmy Eat World headphones, both small and black, on my shoulder blades. I really wanted a Jets To Brazil inspired tattoo, but nothing really stands out to me at the moment. If any of you love them as much as I do, give me some ideas to go on. I'm probably going to wind up drawing something of my own or wait to get that one. I know I'll cry like a little baby when I get them, but it seems worth it!
Hey and my last thing is about a band I am really good friends with, called The Loyalty. They are based out of my hometown, Queensbury, NY. That's near Saratoga Springs, upstate. They have had a really successful year and I just want you all to check out what they've been doing, give their songs a listen. Tell me what you think. They are going to be huge, I promise you. Sorry we've been lacking on the updates for the past few weeks. We've just been preparing for the insanity that is going to be SURS 2007! The next few months are going to be so packed with excitement that we can barely contain ourselves.
First off, thank you to everyone who replied to our "Viewer Request Week" post! Tune in the week of January 22nd to see all your favorite videos and maybe hear Steven read your request on-air! Again, that's going down January 22-26th.
In other news, we've booked our friends in Taking Back Sunday to help us launch our new set! We were thinking about keeping the boys a secret, but we just got too excited to hold out! On Monday, January 15th, Adam, Matt, Eddie, Fred and Mark are going to help us bring your our new set. No more amps! No more guitars! Can I hear another yay? Yay!
The following day (Tuesday, January 16th), we're going to be announcing the winner of Steven's Unsigned Band Contest!!! We're not going to let that one slip early, so you'll have to watch the show to see if your favorite band won!
Oh, and that's not all! In the next three months, SURS is going on the road, bringing you interviews from the Warped Tour exhibit at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, the Taste Of Chaos Tour and SXSW. We can already promise interviews with Bad Religion, Pennywise, Paramore, The Bouncing Souls, 30 Seconds To Mars, Senses Fail, The Used and Saosin. Wow!
Please keep checking back for more updates and please keep watching every weekday at 7pm ET, 4pm PT for all things rock.

While spring-cleaning my apartment this past weekend, I came across something that I hadn’t touched in several years…my old CD book. Flipping through this little gem was a bit well…embarrassing…but, I did try to remind myself that there’s a time and place for everything, even local ska – not that I am poking fun - I obviously owned some. Regardless, I also found a little EP I hadn’t even thought of in a few years, THE GET UP KID’S RED LETTER DAY. After playing it twice, I spent the rest of the day listening to the entire GUK LP catalogue: FOUR MINUTE MILE, SOMETHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT, EUDORA, ON A WIRE and GUILT SHOW. Each of these albums have something distinctly special to offer, and I’m not going to lie, I’m quite bummed (for me and all you) that after this last tour and live album they’ll be the GOT UP KIDS (pardon the joke). Anyways, this blog is meant to be a little birdie on your shoulder reminding you all that you too love the GET UP KIDS. This summer tour is the last. Here are the dates. I guarantee the SURS trio will be in attendance in NYC.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading about trauma therapy. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
