Kevin says "Play my stage," and Bruce says "Watch YURS today!"

Posted on February 29, 2008 at 03:41 PM

Just a reminder that today at 4:00 p.m. Eastern (1:00 p.m. Pacific), we'll celebrate the Leap Day birth of YOUR Untitled Rock Show! The new list of videos will go up for voting when the show premieres, so I hope you'll multi-task and vote while you watch the premiere of our new spinoff!

On another note, though, I want to pass along word from the awesome Mr. Kevin Lyman, creator of Warped Tour and lifelong supporter of underground music! I'm copying and pasting a note from him below, and I encourage any of you who create music to apply to play your local Warped date this summer!

Want to play on the Kevin Says Stage this year?  Visit www.kevinsaysstage.com to fill out the band application! What is the Kevin Says Stage? It started out as a picnic table and has grown into a tour staple and one of the best places to find local, regional, and up-and-coming independent artists on the Warped Tour! Each year we comb through thousands of submissions in search for the best and hardest-working bands in the US - - and the world - - to play select spots on the stage at every tour date. Support independent music and stop by the Kevin Says Stage this summer!

Tune in, good luck, and have a great weekend!

Cheers,
proBRUCEr

Sick Boy

Posted on February 28, 2008 at 03:31 PM

All respects to Mike Ness and Trainspotting but today I am a sick boy.
Oh Way Oh

Man, what a week.  On top of having an over 100 degree fever, I just hung out with Ronnie and Jon from Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (LOVE those dudes) and that's really it.  Aside from all our shows.

Smoke or Fire is playing in NYC tonight and due to my illness I shall NOT be attending which blows.  Stupid illness.  Hopefully my white blood cells will have vanquished the dreaded plague and I'll be able to attend the Riverboat Gamblers, Paint It Black, Strike Anywhere show.  I better get better or it'll get worse.

Thanks for all your great questions for our viewer mail days and thanks for just being you.  Our fans rule.

air kiss
Steven

YURS and Mine

Posted on February 24, 2008 at 10:05 PM

Fine fine fine. You got me. It's Sunday and not Thursday and the Oscars are on. Why am I sending a bulletin now?
Well, the answer is simple. I can't stand awards shows and I forgot to do it on Thursday. Honesty is the best policy, they say.
I also wanted to wait until my week of shows was over before writing to you.
And what a damn week.

Tuesday was the Foo Fighters at Madison Square Garden. It was kind of a big deal and Fuse broadcast the whole thing in HD no less. Serj Tankian and Against Me! opened and I was there too. Working. Missed most of the show as I was running around doing intros and things and wouldn't you know it? They didn't use any of it for the broadcast. Ah well. It's a good gig if you can get it.

Thursday I got the honor of hanging out once again at MSG but this time to see Coheed and Cambria and a little band called Linkin Park. This too was kind of a big deal. Little bit. I got to hang with my good friend Robby and his friends Mike and Karl with a K up in one of the Skyboxes. We had a damn good time stuffing our faces with cookies and talking about Robby's favorite band Iron Maiden. Dude's got taste. Linkin Park were amazing as always and Coheed blew my mind by performing with backup singers. Nuts I tell you.

Friday was The Loved Ones and the Gaslight Anthem at the Knitting Factory. Now you all know what a huge fan of the Loved Ones I am plus I've trumpeted the awesomeness of the Gaslight Anthem but let me tell you, I haven't seen a show that high energy in a long ass time. Firstly I got there to see opening acts the Ergs (who sound like Weston meets the Rhythm Pigs - if you don't know either of those bands you're in for a treat) who were exceptional. Then Gaslight got onstage, brought the roof down, the built it back up again only to bring it down on our collectively rocking heads. If you don't buy their record Sink or Swim you are no friend of mine. The Loved Ones played the best show I've seen them do in a long time and let me tell you, I've been watching them for a little while now. Their live show made me love the new record Build and Burn whole lots more and there couldn't be four nicer guys. All the bands on that bill were smiling their asses off. The joy was infectious and transferred to the crowd who were already delighted. Sold out Madison Square Garden is fine but give me a punk show any damn day of the week.

Not over yet people. Yesterday I travelled to Philadelphia to see one of my favorite bands, Wilco. Haven't watched them in four years and damn it all to hell if they weren't amazing. The crowd is getting a little hippie jammy for my liking but the band remain true to form. Singer/songwriter/genius Jeff Tweedy even made a light-hearted crack at the Foo Fighters. "Neanderthals" he called them just before citing he was kidding. Nobody can hate on Dave Grohl. And both bands have been around just as long. The parallels run wild.

That not enough for you? Could this bulletin be longer? Could my cat get in my way even more (move it Minx!)? Nope! No way! No indeedy! We are premiering our brand new viewer driven Friday video hour YOUR Untitled Rock Show. How you like them apples? You guys deserve it and now you're getting five brand new episodes of SURS every damn week. We do it because we love you. And I love you. Lots. Hit up our site www.fuse.tv/steven and the lovely link that says
It's YURS: Which video do you want to see on Friday's show?
Maybe you'll pick some Iron Maiden? Huh, Robby?

It's what we do. For you. As I'm doing right now. In my pajamas. With my cat trying to type.

I had a pretty good week. I hope yours was great too.
See you sooner.
VOTE FOR YURS!

hugs,
Steven

Posted on February 21, 2008 at 06:18 PM

Youruntitledrockshow208x118_2

We've had a lot of great happenings on the Rock Show this year!

First, I came back to the show as Supervising Producer after being away from my baby for about a year.

Then we decided to change up the format, giving us the ability to bring you rocking guest content each and every day we're on the air.

Then the powers that be finally let us expand from three original episodes a week, back to four weekly freshies.

And now, I'm glad to report that we're launching an offshoot of SURS next Friday, February 29 which we're calling Your Untitled Rock Show!

YURS, as we've already affectionately nicknamed the spinoff, will air every Friday at 4pm ET and will feature a full hour of videos as selected by YOU on our website!

The options for the first episode are listed below, and you can pick your fave at fuse.tv/steven right up until the show premieres next week. At show time, we'll swap in a brand new list of delicious music videos for you to choose from for the following week's show!

Hey, it's Jonah!

Posted on February 20, 2008 at 03:09 PM

Hey,

My name is Jonah and I'm the writer for Steven's Untitled Rock Show. I am not very tech saavy, but Naomi finally showed me how to blog on here, so expect occasional updates from me as well as the rest of the rock show team.

A lot of you probably want to know what it's like to work next to Steven. Well, first off, his desk is kind of a disaster area. If I knew how to post a photo I would, but imagine what it would look like if a homeless person who really liked Rocket From The Crypt took over a cubicle: a lot of paper bags, CDs and random promotional stuff. Also, Steven likes to throw things at me... and we probably spend about an hour a day speculating about what it would be like if Jawbreaker reunited.

In other words, it's a pretty typical work environment.

Okay, that's all I can think of for now. Thanks for reading the blog!

-Jonah

The guys from Against Me! found an hour in their day to come by and talk to Steven this morning...even when they're playing tonight at Madison Square Garden! DAMN.

Here's two pictures from the interview & make sure to watch it on SURS next Monday, Feb. 25th.  The rest of the pictures will be posted on our myspace: Check 'em out later today.

Stay tuned the rest of the week for Panic At The Disco & Coheed pictures.

laterr.
