Hello, Rock Bloggers!
This is a note I sent out Monday to my entire address book. I thought I'd re-post here, in case any of you were fans of Sean's bands and might want to make a donation in his memory!
- proBRUCEr
Dear Friends:
Yesterday, January 27th would have been the 32nd birthday of my good friend Sean McGrath, a former colleague and Chicago City Limits classmate, as well as a founding member of Saves The Day, Mouthpiece, and Hands Tied.
As you might recall, some friends and I rallied around Sean when he was diagnosed with advanced digestive tract cancer in 2002, throwing the "Hold On To Your Friends" benefit concert at Irving Plaza featuring our buddies Thursday, Midtown, The Movielife, and Taking Back Sunday. Sadly, two years to the day after our benefit show, we were attending Sean's wake in south Jersey.
He fought long and hard over those two years, and we continued raising money for his expenses throughout the struggle. When we lost Sean, we wanted to do something positive with our leftover funds while also keeping his name alive forever. To do so, his fiancée Jessie and I founded The Sean McGrath Fund in partnership with the Princeton Area Community Foundation.
The Sean McGrath Fund, with the able assistance of the PACF, will soon start to distribute grants to community organizations dealing largely with cancer prevention, screening, and awareness, particularly youth-targeted initiatives.
In order to continue doling out grant money to worthy organizations, we need to continue raising money, and that's why I'm writing you today! I hope you'll consider making a donation of any amount to The Sean McGrath Fund, though I'm setting a "challenge" level of at least $32, to commemorate what would have been his age this week.
Checks can be made out to "Princeton Area Community Foundation" (make sure you put "Sean McGrath Fund" in the memo portion) and sent directly to:
The Sean McGrath Fund
c/o Princeton Area Community Foundation
15 Princess Road
Lawrenceville, NJ 08648
If you'd prefer to donate online, you can do so here, but just make sure you enter Sean McGrath Fund in the "Designate my donation" box.
As always, thanks so much for taking the time to read my screed, and a big thanks in advance to any of you who choose to donate!
Cheers,
Bruce

I have a theory that everybody likes at least one of the following:
1. cute boys
2. hot chicks
3. chimps
4. strip clubs
I personally prefer dudes and chimps, but you can find plenty of all four in the new All Time Low video for "Dear Maria, Count Me In," which their label sent me today!
Even though I interviewed them at The Bamboozle last year (see pic above), I didn't get to see these guys play until a couple months ago. Even though I was probably the oldest person in the room, I quite enjoyed their set...and not just 'cause I'm completely bananas for one of them. No, I won't say which...but you're welcome to guess!
A note to the world, though: it is NEVER appropriate to do that lame-ass Soulja Boy dance in public, but it's most especially inappropriate when it's done between sets at a rock show (as I kept seeing at the All Time Low show). Next time I see someone bust that out at a concert, I'm busting some knee caps.
Cheers,
proBRUCEr

So, this is my first post on the ole' rock blog. I wanted to introduce myself and let you know what's been going on in SURSland. Hey-oo. I'm Naomi, and many moons ago interned for Steven's Untitled Rock Show. I recently moved over from The Sauce, and I'm so happy to be back and working on this show to get you all the music/rock/bands you're little heart can desire.
Before I head down south for the weekend, I wanted to post about a great acoustic show I recently saw and
an album I can't stop listening to. So, after work a few days ago a few friends and I rushed over to the Knitting Factory to catch Anthony Raneri's (lead singer of Bayside) solo project. Not only do I love Bayside's music, he also covered one of my favorite Death Cab songs that you can find here: www.myspace.com/anthonyranerisolo. The only problem was that people wouldn't shut their *&@$%^&^%$ mouths...Several times he hushed the crowd and once asked them, why they were still there if they didn't want to listen because he was the headliner?!". It never really worked, but all in all it was a great show and something you should definitely check out next time he goes on tour. I believe Bayside heads out on tour today, so catch them as a full band on tour too.
An album you should all check out, if you haven't already, is the side project of the lead singer Dustin Kensrue from Thrice. It's a little folk/acoustic/rock and extreme opposite of his band. I think it's a really great album to listen to when you wanna chill out. I know I can speak for most of us at the rock show when I say I pretty much love it! Check his myspace out here: www.myspace.com/dustinkensrue.
Ohh, one last thing for all our fans of The Spill Canvas. We just heard from our web team
that they put up extra fan questions we asked The Spill Canvas when they were in the studio last week...Just go to the SURS home page @ www.fuse.tv/steven. We got sooo many fan questions for those nice guys! Thank you, and enjoy.
Have a wondeful weekend and let us know what you think we should check out show wise, album wise, or really anything!
Lots of Love,
-Naomi

I hope your bringing in the '08 was a ball dropping good time!
Man oh man do we have a year in store for you.
Loads of new surprises, more tours, but still that same old untitled rock goodness. We've got your viewer mail, we've got my picks, we've got Rock 101, the best damn music interviews in the business, and of course the best damn videos ever. Plus cool exclusives I promise you won't see anywhere else. We might even have less reruns - seriously. How badass would that be?
And we have you, the best fans a TV show could ever have.
SO, keep the q's comin, for me, our guests, and keep your eyes tuned to the Untitled, the coolest clique this side of the bleachers. And we rock too.
your host with the most toast
Steven
