WARPED AWAY!!!

Tomorrow my friends, tomorrow we set sail for a week of Warped silliness, interviewing bands galore, old friends and new, and tons of the untitled rock madness you've come to expect from us. 

By the by, we're almost to 300 shows?  Can you believe it?  I sure can't. 

I wanted to take this moment to answer a few questions posed to me after my last blog.  They are in no particular order unless you are particular. 

what kind of name is boucing souls?, but what kind of name is steven????? -phil

Bouncing Souls is an awesome name.  Steven is from the latin meaning "King" or "Crown."  That's right, King Steven.  Nice ring to it. 

what was the deal with the Dir..something..Gray? -Ariel

First off, love your work in the Little Mermaid (no one's EVER made that joke before.)  Two, Dir En Gray (which I've no doubt misspelled) is a Japanese import with an insane following and we are honored to be the only show playing them. 

what's the tattoo on your arm? -someone

Someday I'll tell you.  Maybe.

Warped Kickoff - Underoath & Paramore pics!

I gave you details in a post yesterday about our Warped Wednesday plan for 2006, but silly me, I forgot to post pictures!

First up, here are some pictures of the press conference with a ton of artists surrounding Warped founder Kevin Lyman, who's sitting on the floor, out of camera range.

Funny thing - Steven and I (plus our camera crew and the publicist from Key Club) got trapped in the venue's elevator while taking it from the top floor (where we interviewed Paramore) down to the basement lounge (where the press conference was held). We were pooping our drawers for a few minutes there, since the tour publicists were holding off on starting the press conference until we got down there! Fortunately, some of the venue staff were able to pry us out after a few minutes and the rest of the night went off without a hitch!

 

 

Here are a few snaps Underoath fellas hanging with Steven in their dressing room right before we taped the episode you saw kick off Warped Wednesdays last night. I caught a tender moment between Spencer and Chris here...and apparently, a confused moment for Aaron! Sorry the group shot's so blurry...it's the best wide shot I had!

 

 

And here is 60% of Paramore lounging around before their performance at the Key Club.

 

 

That episode with Paramore airs in our Warped Wednesday slot next week, June 21 at 7:00 p.m. eastern, 4:00 p.m. Pacific, so make sure you tune in and spend the hour with us (and them!). Warped Wednesdays launch TONIGHT!

Today's the day you've been waiting for since last August, my rock pals: THE LAUNCH OF WARPED WEDNESDAYS 2006!!!

Tonight at 7pm eastern, 4pm Pacific, we're kicking things off with a full hour of UNDEROATH from the Warped Kickoff Party/Press Conference in Los Angeles; then next week you can catch PARAMORE hanging out with Steven at the same event. Every Wednesday thereafter for the rest of the summer, we'll be bringing you artist interviews from on the road with Vans Warped Tour, so make sure you join us each and every hump day!

Also, you might remember that last year, we asked YOU what questions you wanted to ask the many, many bands of Warped, and we want to enlist your help again this year! Once again, we're looking for questions about Warped life that will work for ANY of the artists involved...NOT specific questions for a band. Post your queries below, and we just might bring your burning questions out with us this summer! Give it some thought and do it soon, though, 'cause we've got to set a deadline of next Monday, June 19 in order to make sure we've got them in hand when we head out on tour!

HOLA ROCK BLOGGERS

Tryin' to be a bit more proactive on the rock blog front here.  Thought I'd give you alls the skinny on what's happening here behind the scenes at Rock Central.

Today the Bouncing Souls stopped by.  Although the show we taped will air in July today their new album The Gold Record hits stores.  You should go buy it.  Right now.  If you are a fan of anything we play on the rock show then this album must be in your collection.

They are soundchecking as I write with Dave Hause from the Loved Ones playing guitar with them tonight.  And the Explosion are opening!  A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

I'm gearing up to go interview Andrew McMahon from Jack's Mannequin on Daily Download in a minute.  I don't know if youse all are aware but on Friday's DD takes their normal countdown and gives it the finger.  YOU get to pick the videos that are on and I must say I've noticed quite the SURS tint.  Anyways, it's called F the Countdown and you should vote like crazy. 

Right.  I'm off.
