KILL HANNAH

Posted on March 28, 2006 at 06:38 PM

Zup minions o'rock.  Soy es Esteban.  My Espanol blows.  Lots going down in the Untitled Rock World.  ProBruce is the man with the plan and has given you the skinny on all our SXSW biz.  He and the UntitledRockChick are always hard at work in the bowels of Untitled HQ so please give them props.  They's badasses. Wanted to give youse all, specifically youse in the NYC arena, a heads up on one of my favorite bands, Kill Hannah.  They are a Fuse favorite and one whom I think you'll dig most righteously.  They're playing their first New York gig in forever April 10th at the Avalon (where I just saw Japanese rock stars Dir En Grey - who if you don't know about, I didn't, check'em out.  It's like Human Waste Project meets Hanoi Rocks meets Gollum.)  Anyhoo, New York City. April 10thAvalon.  Kill Hannah. I'll be there. Will you? your friend, Steven

SURS + SXSW = SEXY

Posted on March 20, 2006 at 12:41 PM

Happy spring, blog-meisters!

Yesterday our Fuse squad returned from balmy Austin after spending a few days covering the South By Southwest music conference. If you're not familiar with SXSW, it's a sprawling music and multimedia event that descends on the Texas capital every spring. Over the course of a few days, a mostly music industry crowd takes in panels, parties, and performances from thousands of bands - from the smallest unsigned DIY outfits to genuine music legends (this year Morrissey was a huge draw).

Of course, a lot of music media outlets also make the trip to chase down rockers and rollers for some chat time. It was hectic as hell to do it, but we managed to score interviews with TWENTY-TWO artists for upcoming SURS episodes and an Alternative Press party special!

We'll have three full episodes of the Rock Show starting Monday, April 3, featuring:

ANBERLIN
LIVING THINGS
JACK'S MANNEQUIN
EUGENE HÜTZ OF GOGOL BORDELLO
EDITORS
NIGHTMARE OF YOU
MATT PRYOR OF NEW AMSTERDAMS
BLACKPOOL LIGHTS
ALLISTER
SHE WANTS REVENGE
MORNINGWOOD
AMBER PACIFIC
SAVES THE DAY
CHRIS CARRABBA OF DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL
WOLFMOTHER
SNOW PATROL
THE STILLS, and
THURSDAY!

Oh, but that's not all, rock fans! We'll also have a half hour special with some of the artists who were featured at the super-hot ALTERNATIVE PRESS party Saturday at Emo's rock club! In that special, you can share some hangtime with Steven and:

CIRCA SURVIVE
PARAMORE
STRAYLIGHT RUN
HEAD AUTOMATICA, and once again
THURSDAY!

We were a little short-staffed out in the field, and I didn't get a chance to take any snapshots of our chat time, so make sure you tune in starting April 3 at 7:00 p.m. EST, 4:00 p.m. PST! We'll post more SXSW memories once we settle in and start turning the raw tape into RAWK tape! [Oh mercy...did I just say "rawk"? Hahaha - sorry, I'm tired!]

Cheers,
ProBRUCEr

SXSW

as opposed to that Hitchcock movie.

huh, not five words into my entry and I've already typed a naughty word.  if you find it, you win nothing.

well my minions, tonight proBruce and I are off to Austin, Texas for the great South By Southwest Festival where we shall be interviewing every damn band there.  not really, but it feels like it.

there are going to be some old favs, new ones, probably some artists you've never heard of, and a whole lotta SURS goodness.  We hope you dig it.

That being said, we are traveling all over the country, talking to your favorite artists, our favorites, doing what we can to bring you the rock.

And that's it.
Stay in touch.

your friend,
Steven

TASTE OF CHAOS SURS STYLE!!!

Posted on March 1, 2006 at 06:13 PM

HOLA COMPADRES!!!

We are back!  Back, back for the attack.
And what fun we had.  Seriously, from merch puppetry courtesy of the Smash Up! To random silliness with Adair.  And yours truly was honored to thrash about with the Street Drum Corps.  Cool stuff.  Cool dudes.

But now it's back to work.  And what a week we have in store for ourselves.  First and foremost I just finished a 7th Avenue Drop with our friends Hawthorne Heights.  It rocked.  It really did.

Then tomorrow we shall be shooting in the studio with the Loved Ones (FINALLY) and the legendary NOFX.  How cool is that?  Pretty damn cool, that is.

Both those fabulous artists, along with the Lawrence Arms are rocking out this evening here in NYC.  And mere blocks away so are the Dropkick Murphys and Sick of It All.  Then way down at CBGB's Say Anything will be tearing it up.  Lots to do tonight.  Lots and lots.

Hope all is well and groovy with everyone.

your friend,

Steven
