Rock nation!  OK so I just realized that since I shot one more show it'll be on all next week so technically you still get one more show with me on it.  Feel free to fantasize ladies.  haha.  Anyways i'm not gonna lie to you.  I actually enjoyed this blogging thing a lot.  Not only did I get to keep you up to date with new rock music but I actually got to keep myself updated as well.

SO i'm giving you the heads up as to where you can catch brand new installments of the Rock it out blog.

If you go to this website over here you will be privy to my rants and raves.  Now nothing is up there yet being that the first blog will be up on Monday.

All the old friends will be there.  Local music fridays, sit down, shut up and watch this, what's in Sami's iPod and new segments as well.

So make sure you always get your Fuse fix but then, if ya feel like it, drop by my place and say hey.

Alright then guys.  Hope to see you at the new blog.

Rock it out!

I'm done already? But I just got here!

Posted on September 12, 2008 at 01:58 PM

Hey everybody.  Well today's rock it out blog is a special one today because...well it's the last one.  Yup.  Sadly my time at No. 1 Countdown Rock has drawn to a close.  I shot the show yesterday and afterwards I was told it was my last one.

And it had nothing to do with the fact that I wasn't a good host or I did anything wrong or pissed somebody off or anything like that.  I was told that in television there's something called "creative changes" which basically means that they want to take the show in a new direction.  In this case the new direction is a new host of the show.

Now I don't know who the new host is but i'm sure she's gonna rock the show harder than I ever did.  Plus she's a hot chick...more fun for everyone (including myself) to look at.

So I just wanna take the time to thank all of you in the rock nation that read this blog, watched the show or just said hi every so often.  I really appreciate all the support you guys have given me on my short yet amazing stint as your rock VJ on Fuse.  And also remember one thing.  Always follow your dreams.

I know it sounds corny and cheesy but I mean it with all my heart.  Doing that show was a dream for me and I met a lot of great people at Fuse along the way.  Believe me though this is nowhere near the end of the road for me.  This is the very most extreme beginning of it.  I plan to continue on rocking out til the day I die and I wanna make sure you all are a part of it.  Now i've gained a bit of experience and I'm gonna push for all I can get now.  I don't know where I'm gonna end up next but you can rest assured that it will be just as awesome as my time at Fuse.

To be honest with you I love Fuse.  I loved that channel before I even got the chance to work there and I would absolutely love to go back there again.  If they give me the chance I will absolutely take it.

In the meantime be sure to keep watching.  You have great people there.  Steven, Jared and Dee are all amazing people and great at what they do.  Support them as much as you can and be sure to watch No. 1 Countdown Rock as well.  Again I wish this new host all the best and I know she will do some serious ass kicking there.

So...that's it.  That's all I got for ya.  I'm sorry that we didn't get to hang out longer but it's all good.  I'll be back soon.  This isn't goodbye.  This is let's grab a beer sometime and catch up on things.  And don't worry the first round is on me.

Thanks again for everything rock nation.  Now put your horns in the air and say it with me.

Rock it out!!!

I wanna pee on Shirley Manson too!

Posted on September 11, 2008 at 01:44 PM

Ah my beloved Rock Nation.  What is goin on guys?  I got sportscenter on in the background and I'm tellin ya this USC/Ohio State football game is gonna be crazy this saturday.  It's only week 3 of the season and it's being plugged on TV like it's the BSC Championship game.  There's something for you to do saturday night in case you don't feel like goin out.  Get some friends together, get some pizza and beer and just root for whoever you want.  Regardless of what happens, it's a good time all around.

So I gotta head to Fuse in a lil bit but I wanted to hit you guys up before I bounce out the door.  But you gotta see this video right here.  Shirley Manson of the band Garbage...plays a urinal that morphs into a killer on the Terminator TV show on FOX.
I guess when she sang "I'm only happy when it rains" she predicted her role as one who gets golden showers.  Hahahaha...haha...ha....ah I am such a brilliant writer.

AC/DC are kicking off a world tour soon and they announced the dates.  Which means you must go to the show.  Don't think about whether you should or not.  The answer is YES!  Go see them.  Get tickets anyway you can and go see Brian, Angus and the crew.

And now it's time for thursday's special segment "What's in Sami's iPod".  I gotta go out and get me some new albums though.  I haven't been to a record store in a bit but i'll get back to it soon.  In the meantime you should be listening to...

Flight of the Conchords - I know this album has been around for a few months now but this album is just awesome.  Plus all these songs are from their HBO show (second season starts in January) which you should also check out.  The album could be some of the best folk rock from New Zealand since....ever!  Check out the tracks "Robots" "Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros" and "Ladies of the World".

Honestly though, how bout you guys hook me up with some albums I should be checking out as well?  I know i'm supposed to be some kinda "expert" on rock music but you know I can know everything that's goin on which is why I'm calling on you to make me smarter.  Any albums you think I should be spinning in my iPod then hit me up and let me know.

OK I gotta get my ass down to Fuse and shoot another gem of a show for ya.  Hit you up tomorrow with another edition of Local music friday.

Rock it out!

Today you get to be the critic.

Posted on September 10, 2008 at 02:36 PM

Yo!  What is the deal everybody?  Welcome to humpday and what a nice humpday it is.  Sorry about yesterday's rant and rave, punks, but I had to get that off of my chest.  That guy's blog just irritated the shit outta me.  But i'm ok now.  Everything is back normal and we can get back to the business at hand which is rocking out.

Before I start though I'd like to give shoutouts to three new friends I made recently.  I had the chance to hang out with Mike and Gerry of Pennyroyals last friday night.  Very cool dudes and now the band is friends of the show on the myspace page...which you all should be checking out btw.  And last night I was hanging with my good friend Hugo Ferreira from the band Tantric (who is the special guest on the show this week).  It's cool knowing that when you hang with guys in successful bands they're just chill.  The only difference between us and them is that their job is cooler than ours.  I'm just glad I get the opportunity to get to meet these people.  Hopefully everyone in the rock nation gets the chance to meet and chill with the band they appreciate the most...i'm still waiting for my chance to jam with Radiohead.  Hey Thom Yorke!  Get my number from my producers and we'll do lunch!

Anyways let's see what do we have goin on today?  Hmmm?

Well the first thing we could go through is "Sit down, shut up and watch this".  And today's selection surprised me a bit.  As I was waiting for Entourage to start this past sunday night, a new show called TrueBlood made its debut on HBO.  It's a show starring Anna Paquin (she is so fine) as a southern waitress who has telepathic powers.  But the main plot is that vampires can now "come out of the coffin" as they say on the show being that the Japanese have invented a new synthetic blood drink called TruBlood which allows them to not drink the blood of humans.  The show, however, is violent, sexy, and just good times all around.  So now your sunday nights consist of TrueBlood, Entourage and if your team is playing on sunday night on NBC then be sure to watch the football game as well.

So I was reading my new issue of Rolling Stone that came in the mail today.  Turns out Metallica's Death Magnetic gets four out of five stars from the mag's review.  Now I know the album leaked and a lot of you already have it...I have it as well.  So i'm curious as to know what your thoughts are on this new album.  You can be more than sure that their vid will be on the Countdown soon enough but I just wanna hear real reviews from the fans.  Critics have a tendency to embellish thoughts sometimes or overdisect an album so i'm more interested in what you have to say.

Now is the time where I hit you with a bunch of links to appease your rock appetites.  Ready?

Sonic Youth has signed to a new label while Alice in Chains has gone back into the studio to record new material.  Alas, there will be no new records from Led Zeppelin and you can be pretty sure that Pink Floyd reunion we all wanted isn't happening anytime soon.

Phew.  I know that's alot for one paragraph but I'm sure you can make it all right.  If you have problems though then let me know about it.

Finally I will be bringing back the video blogs.  I know they've been gone for a while but I promise they will make their return next week...or maybe this week if I feel good enough.  Be sure to also hit up the youtube page as well as the myspace.  No. 1 Countdown Rock is going to make it's presence on the internet known but you have to help make it happen.

Alright then R.N. I'm outta here.  I gotta get ready for my date...with a girl!  Haha.  Later freaks.

Rock it out!

Sami
