The family of Amy Winehouse issued a statement on Sunday, the day after the 27-year-old singer/songwriter was found dead in her London home:
"Our family has been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece," the family said in a statement to Us Weekly. "She leaves a gaping hole in our lives."
Tributes to Winehouse began pouring in shortly after news of her death broke on Saturday afternoon, with fans and fellow musicians posting their thoughts on the loss on Twitter. "Amy changed pop music forever," Lady Gaga tweeted. "I remember knowing there was hope, and feeling not alone because of her. She lived jazz, she lived the blues."
"I am genuinely heartbroken about this," Rihanna began a series of tweets on Saturday. "U made a MAJAH impression on this industry and throughout the world in such a short space of time ... too short!" Usher expressed his sorrow via Twitter as well, adding, "I'm so happy I knew you, Amy. Rest well."
"What a loss," Q-Tip tweeted Saturday. "The last time I spoke 2 Amy I told her let her light shine more." Ricky Martin posted on Saturday, "I feel pain. I feel anger. Rest beautiful girl rest. You are free!" Kelly Osbourne tweeted, "I just lost 1 of my best friends. I love you forever, Amy & will never forget the real you!"
Winehouse collaborator Mark Ronson tweeted, "She was my musical soulmate & like a sister to me. this is one of the saddest days of my life,” and Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, who recorded and toured with Winehouse, also released a statement. "We are very sad to have lost Amy Winehouse today. She was one of a kind and we were fortunate to have had the chance to make music with her. ... It is a tragedy that she was taken from us so soon when she had much more music to give."
Friend Russell Brand blogged about his relationship with Winehouse and his own experience with addiction: "She wasn’t just some hapless wannabe ... She was a [expletive] genius. ... Now Amy Winehouse is dead, like many others whose unnecessary deaths have been retrospectively romanticised, at 27 years old. Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It is not preventable today. We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease."
Much of the talk on Winehouse's death touched on the fact that she died at age 27 - as did fellow musicians Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Robert Johnson and Jim Morrison. M.I.A. announced the release of the song "27" on Twitter on Sunday. The track, posted via Soundcloud, includes the lyrics, "You’re all mouth and no brains/ All rock stars go to heaven/ You said you’ll be dead at 27/ When we drunk in a English tavern."
Winehouse's death is still categorized as "unexplained" by London authorities, as Monday's autopsy was inconclusive. Toxicology exam results are pending and may take up to four weeks.

The singer, whose big break came with her acclaimed 2006 album Back to Black - for which she won five Grammy Awards in 2008 - had been largely absent from music in recent years due to reported battles with drugs and alcohol.
Winehouse launched a European tour in June, but the comeback run was cut short following reports that she'd been booed off stage and behaved erratically during the first performance. Earlier this week, Winehouse reportedly took the stage at a London venue during a performance by her goddaughter, X Factor's Dionne Bromfield, but did not sing.
