8 NYC Bands You Should Hear

According to the L Magazine, that is. What is the L Magazine? Its a free weekly New Yorkers can pick up in orange boxes all over town. It's a (pop) culture mag that resides in a zone you could call hip. Well, one of the hip things the hip L likes to do is annually inform "us" of eight bands in New York "we" should know about. Their track record is impressive - last year they were onto Vampire Weekend and White Rabbits. Full list is below, but fuseblog especially recommends High Places, a electro dream-calypso duo, and The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, pure, painless, impeccable pop.
