A controversial sculpture of Britney Spears – naked, life-sized and crouching as she is giving birth on a bearskin rug – is due to go on display April 7 at Brooklyn's Capla Kesting Fine Art gallery as part of a pro-life exhibition.
A press release from the gallery states that the art object "celebrates the recent birth of Spears's baby boy, Sean, and applauds her decision of placing family before career." The planned exhibit will also include anti-abortion materials provided by the Manhattan Right To Life Committee.
Gallery co-owner David Kesting confirmed that calls of protest have come in from as far away as "Tokyo, England, France. Some people are upset that Britney is being used for this subject matter. Others who are pro-life thought this was degrading to their movement. And some pro-choice people were upset that this is a pro-life monument."

Steven and the Untitled Rock crew, along with half of the music world, was in Austin for that annual rite of spring, the SXSW festival. Hundreds of artists, from hot foreign imports like The Go! Team, NYC/Philly upstarts Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Twin Cities buzz band Tapes n' Tapes, performed, many several times over the course of the week.
The biggest name at the festival belonged to Morrissey, who debuted songs from his upcoming Ringleader Of The Tormenters album. The album finds Moz heading into unchartered lyrical waters: sex and relationships. The aforementioned Tapes n' Tapes was all over the place, playing to packed rooms and unleashing their frenetic, Husker-esque workouts. Montreal's The Stills debuted songs from their upcoming Without Feathers, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah repeatedly showed why their album was the indie phenomenon of the past year.
Fuse photog Andy Argyrakis was there. here are some of his shots. For many, MANY more photos, check out the Fuse SXSW page.

This may be a few weeks old, an eternity in ol' internet time, but have you heard the news about Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz? Yikes. It's someone's word against someone else's word. What do you think?
it takes a lot to make me mad.
it takes even more to infuriate me.
so, after all this time i finally learned the truth. that it was you telling my ex girlfriend lies and secrets. despite even giving you the pass card after i caught you trying to talk dirty to her online, this is how you repay me? no wonder why you couldnt look me in the eye on the bus last summer and no wonder why you avoided me every chance you got.
you hug me and tell me you love me then you tell lies to my girlfriend behind my back to lure her away from me? you tell her i cheat on her and then you tell me to come stay on the bus?
you are a spineless f*cking sham.
i regret every second i spent defending you and your selfish ways.
dont forget, i know you. not that shitty glammed up poser image you present to the masses to consume. the dude i knew never would have worn a f*cking dinosaur shirt or sold out one of his friends. the dude i knew had heart and f*cking loyalty. well lil buddy, you are f*cking done.
you want to sell me out to the most important person in my life and then have the audacity to make ME think I did something wrong to not deserve your friendship? you f*cking arrogant bastard.
since we're discussing sellouts lets discuss how when kids give you presents you laugh at them and throw it straight in the trash. oh yeah, ive seen it many times. lets talk about how you talk sh*t about the fat girls that are your fans and mock their letters. you are f*cking undeserving of every ounce of attention you've ever gotten. from every one of your calculated business moves to your "spontaneous" jumps in the crowd parts to your well rehearsed cliche lines you've been spouting for 400 shows in a row. you're boring, contrived and old. "oooh, no one loves me, its sooo hard being on magazine covers and tv shows. someone save me from me." what are you, f*cking 12? go light your little candles ask yourself why no one will ever truly love you. its amazing no one has caught on to your little f*cking show. you're nothing more than a shitty opportunist business man with even shittier fashion sense.
so pack up and move to whatever million dollar house you've picked out in california paid for by your lies and hypocrisy and deceit and selfishness and over medicate yourself like youve been doing for years...because guess what? no one wants you here anymore. you are not welcome.
oh yeah, hows that straight edge tattoo doing? as well as the tattoo for your "crew" who now refer to you as a fraud and a con? stay gold dude, stay gold.
remember this each night of the tour when you play the lie, "hey chris, you were our only friend."
downplay it all you want by saying the song is about "friends", but guess whos f*cking name you're saying each and every night? mine. thats right. what a bunch of f*cking phonies. sing the songs you dont even believe in anymore. f*cking liar.
you know the friends i have and you know how we feel about loyalty.
you know who im talking about and you know they're not happy either.
so dont get caught slipping and you better make damn sure you watch whos on your guest list because a plus one might come backstage to punch your f*cking teeth out and tear the windpipe from your throat.
you f*cking sell out.
oh, and next time you decide to write another song about me, do it right you f*cking coward.
oh what a monster we've created.
when i am called by my manager to read a post that is burning through the internet it makes me wonder. ive never responded to rumours or shittalking online, no matter who it came from- at the same time there is nothing that makes my blood boil more than reading this- being who i am, my first instinct is to blow it off- but then i consider how anytime anything is written on the internet people believe its true- no matter what, no matter the biases or subjectivity of the sources. my first instinct is to lash out- to say everything i think about you and every situation- to defend myself and attack you. as unbelievable as it is- i am an extremely insecure person- everytime i read something about myself negative or positive i react in probably the exact same way anyone would.
but like i said- i am going to continue to do this my own way, what i consider to be the higher road. i understand when we get angry we often lash out- ive done it myself on many occassions. if you want to talk to me about any of this call me on my cell phone and we can do it one on one-
i will not be responding to anything else-
however, the attacks about our fans and the people that listen to this music and read these words is completely offbase- the fans of this band are my entire life- ive lost my girlfriend, my friends, much of my "normal" life- just to keep this relationship going- this isn't to say that i dont make mistakes, take misteps. just because youve seen me on tv or at a show doesn't make me anything less or more than human. you dont ever see the other side of the way we agonize over every decision we make or try our best to please everyone- because we've given up in bands before and we know how it feels and we dont want that to happen. everyone in the band is upset about this- remember everyone that makes up fall out boy- they all wanted me to voice that we appreciate our fans and friends that weve met more than anything- and that we realize because of where we are all the arrows are pointed at us- but we will try our best. and we do try our best. we also, have far more faith in the intelligence and dedication of the people that believe in us to think that they will be swayed easily. if you want to hear other stories of how we actually talk about our fans or think of them please ask other bands, they will testify to how we really act. we just want you to know that in four years when noone cares, we still hope you are there. im not going to freak out or whatever, but please an attack on our fans or our relationship with them as a p.r. move is uncalled for.
this doesn't need to be reposted anywhere- i am sure that fob fans know where to find it.
chris if you want to talk the phone line is there.
i wrote this pretty fast so i apologize for the typos and run-ons.
until then, thank you to everyone who reserves judgment and has my back until the end of time.
- petey

They CAN still get arrested in this town! Pop/punk/reggaesters Less Than Jake got in trouble (granted, they clearly went looking for it) by shooting their latest vid guerilla style around L.A. The whole thing ended prematurely (or as planned?) with frontman Chris Demakes being arrested at the, um, food court at a San Fernando Valley mall following an impromptu performance near assorted Chick-Fil-A's and Taco Bells.
Their latest clip is for Overrated, during which handmade signs bearing observations such as "Security is overrated," "Credit cards are overrated," and "Rent-a-cops are overrated" appear. Hmmm, if I were a rent-a-cop making close to minimum wage and some band I've never heard of shows up and tells me I'm overrated, i'd be calling the real cops, too.
Check out more on this at Fuse.tv.
Here are some photos sent along by the band's label, Warner.

The Killers and their lawyer-manager have asked a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit from the band's former manager. That's funny, I threw the Killers album in the trash not so long ago, oh snap.
In documents filed in U.S. District Court on Monday, members of the rock band and their manager, lawyer Robert Reynolds, accused former manager Braden Merrick of Los Angeles of incompetence and dishonesty.
Merrick's lawsuit, filed Feb. 21, alleges that he was fired in May, after the Las Vegas-based band became successful. The two sides had been negotiating a settlement.
In a separate action filed Friday, the band also asked the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement to void any agreements between The Killers and Merrick.

In case you missed it. Not only was Young Jeezy carrying a concealed weapon, he was carrying a concealed real name (pause for laughter).
Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy was arrested and charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit following an alleged shootout in South Beach, Florida, involving his friends early Friday morning.
Jeezy (real name Jay Jenkins), 28, was with a group of men involved in a fight at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, and when a passerby refused to handover a video camera containing footage of the brawl, one of the men began shooting. The rapper and his crew fled the scene in two SUVs, but were later caught by police officers who found two guns -- one under Jeezy's seat. Two members of Jeezy's posse were also arrested.

Even worse, Simpson was alerted to the message by a Maroon 5 ringtone.
Adam Levine lets Jessica Simpson know it’s over – with a few short taps on his keypad that said “Really busy. Need Space.”
It all started when Levine blew-off their Valentine’s Day date as Jess pressured him for answers. It took a while to sink in and when it did, she told her best friend, “I just got dumped.” And by text message, no less. Ouch!
Not that Simpson will have trouble finding companionship. A source tells Star that she and British heartthrob Jude Law have been calling each other non-stop – even though they’re thousands of miles apart.

I was accidentally at Fall Out Boy's secret show at the Knitting Factory in New York on Friday night.
I wasn't there to see them...
On friday afternoon I got an email from my pal Jonesy asking if I'd like to go see a roots americana all-girl quartet known as the Roulette Sisters. Sure, I said. Later that evening I was ambling down Leonard Street in Manhattan headed for the Knitting Factory. As I approached the Knit, I noticed a TON of people milling about outside. "Who's playing tonight," I wondered. I made my way through the crowd of smokers (people, don't smoke - did you see that picture of Eddie Van Halen?) and into the club. Now, if you've ever been to the Knitting Factory in New York, you know that, in addition to multiple performance spaces on different levels, there is a nice front bar to the left as you walk in. Perfect for meeting friends before a show.
So I tried to walk into that front bar.
BOUNCER: You got will call tickets?
ME: Um... what?
BOUNCER: Who are you here to see?
ME: The Roulette Sisters downstairs, but I'm meeting my friends in the front bar.
BOUNCER [looking me over, comparing me to the other people there. Trying to determine whether he trusts me. And of course, I had no idea what was going on] OK, go on in.
So I head in to the bar. It's not a big bar. I notice that one wall of the bar was "open" (usually, the huge doors that make up the wall are closed), meaning that the bar is connected to the main performing space. Again, there are a TON of people there. I ask two girls what's going on. They look no older than, say, 20. 21, tops.
ME: Who's playing tonight?
GIRL 1: Save Latin.
GIRL 2: But that's a fake name.
GIRL 1: It's a secret show.
GIRL 2: Fall Out Boy is playing tonight!
ME: Ahhhhh!
And there I was. In. At the secret Fall Out Boy show. About five minutes later, my friends arrived (the bouncer let them in when he saw they were with me). About ten minutes later, Fall Out Boy took the stage. I am not too familiar with their catalog, but I *can* report that Sugar, We're Going Down was performed about halfway through the main set. Sounded good. They are loud. And I don't mean their PA was loud, I mean they can play their instruments pretty loudly. The crowd seemed into it. And why wouldn't they? A secret show by a huge act in a small club is exciting. The bar became a sort of waiting room/limbo area for concertgoers taking a breather and the odd mother, hands folded in front, waiting patiently for the show to end. Which it did after about an hour.
And then, the SWARM.
Everyone exited via the bar. And just when I needed to get downstairs for the show i was REALLY there to see. We should have planned to leave one minute earlier. Like, when we heard "Thank You!" from the stage. It took us five minutes to get out of the bar and downstairs to the performance space to which we were headed. But that's OK, it's all good in rock n' roll. And then the Roulette Sisters proceeed to blow my mind.
[You know who else was there? Some of the peeps from Steven's Untitled Rock Show. If you're interested in more details from the night, perhaps you can bother them.]
An intriguing evening. The Roulette Sisters finished an hour later. Several minutes after that, i was making my way upstairs and out of the Knitting Factory. As I stepped onto the sidewalk, a saw a gaggle of Fall Out types, similar to what I had seen when I first arrived earlier in the evening. Who were they there to see? "Save Latin," playing their second and final show of the evening.

Do people still "read" Playboy? Hmmm.
Actress Jessica Alba, who appears in a bikini on the cover of Playboy's March issue, is threatening to sue the magazine, claiming that Hugh Hefner & Co. are trying to make it seem that she appears in a "nude or semi-nude pictorial." According to Brian Wolf, Alba's counsel, the venerable men's magazine has caused the young star "immeasurable harm" by placing her on its cover (Alba appears next to a cover line billboarding a story on the 25 sexiest celebrities). Wolf charges that Playboy initially offered to pay Alba to appear on the cover, but that they were flatly turned down. The magazine, he added, then resorted to a ruse to obtain a promotional photo of a bikini-clad Alba from Columbia Pictures. That sultry image, from the film "Into the Blue," appears on Playboy's cover.
