Holy Sh*t, It's Eddie Van Halen

Eddieweb

Here is Eddie Van Halen arriving at Elton John's Oscar-viewing party. Kids, this is what mouth cancer (years of heavy smoking) and Valerie Bertinelli leaving you will do.

This is your future if you party hard all your life! Not pretty! Didn't he save any money? How much are some new teeth? Valerie was a saint! Guess, she's happier now with her new guy.. I hear he's a Dentist..

OMG! I can hardly believe it. This is my idol; I was totally in LOVE with this guy from 1982 on. It is so sad to see him deteriorate before our eyes. Why is it someone so talented such a musical genius has to resort to drugs and alcohol? You have the world at your fingertips and yet you find it necessary to resort to such things. It's a shame and it's a waste. I feel sorry for their son; I hope he can straighten himself out for him, although I think by now their son must be 15-16 years old? Then again what better example of what NOT to do.

How many people need to die before we learn? I refer to Jimmi Hendrix's, Janis Joplin, Elvis, Chris Farley, and River Phoenix? I mean here are some geniuses in their own right; they all succumbed to drugs and/or alcohol. I'm not a complete prude; I've been known to throw back a few on the weekends. But I know my life is not nearly as "glamorous" as theirs is/was, and I certainly don't need that type of trouble. Is it an addictive personality or is it a weakness that makes them do it?

I too about freaked when I realized this was Eddie. Sure part of it is contributed to his hard life but lets not blame it all on drugs and alcohol. The man does have cancer now as well. Thinking this is what led to this look

Excuse me..

Ed is cancer free? He had some of his tongue removed? I think he's ok.

And, i think he STILL smokes!

I don't get it!!!!

Think about your kid????

Eddie was and always will be my hero next to my parents. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent at home, in my little room, playing guitar listening to VH. Amps, guitars, pedals...it was my obsession. He was the quintessential guitar icon. A hero that every kid wanted to grow up to be. And now, when I see him like this I just think what the hell happenened and I feel a true sense of loss. He needs help and no one is doing or saying anything to him. Christ, remember Elvis? The poor guy was killing himself right in front of his so-called "friends" and no one did shit about it. And what happened? We lost him. We lost an American Icon to drugs and booze. And the same damn thing is happening here. Maybe his friends think he'll be pissed if they say anything to him but if any of them are reading this, HELP EDDIE!!!!! Be a true friend. I don't even know the guy but he's a part of me. A part of my child-hood and adolescence to some extent and I'd do anything for him regardless of what it was.

Ed, get better man. We don't want to lose you! And for all of Eddie's friends and family - get the FUCK of your ass and help him.

Sean....we have no way of knowing what his friends are saying or not saying to him. Just because people get on your case doesn't mean that you stop. You get new friends if you don't want to quit.

Wow! Many of you posting here seem to be enjoying ripping someone apart for showing his age a little bit! Your kind of small-minded pettiness disgusts me. Of the series of pictures taken of Eddie that evening, this is undoubtedly the worst, and it's frankly just a bad picture! Shame on all of you who delight in making fun of someone who's *gasp* not perfect and took a bad picture. (Like none of YOU ever had the camera be unkind in your life.) The kind of people who posted these unkind things are not the kind who will go see evidence to the contrary, but for the rest of you here's a url of pics taken the same night. http://www.vhnd.com/articles/060306-01.shtml
They show a man who has been through a life, some good some bad, some of it caused by his own decisions, but some of it just by living it. I for one think (as I always have) that Eddie's a hottie. I think the little bit of grey showing in his hair is yummy. So to all you people who think it's fun and cool to post hateful things about people you don't even know, go soak your heads!

The man has done more important things in his life than all you losers who are putting him down right now. Do you actually think he cares about you and what you look like or think? The guy is a legend and has made his mark and it will live forever, What have you done that the entire world will remember 100 years from now? My guess is nothing. Everybody ages, including you people. nobody escapes it. You will age and you will think back and say "man, what happened?" too someday (it gets here sooner than you think!).

Eddie Van Halen is still a very talented guitarist. But sadly, he now exhibits all the deteriorations of the disease of drugs and alcoholism. It is sad and shocking to see the foxiest, little dude on the block turn into a dissipated, old man. If his father dying of alcoholism, his wife divorcing him, and his sixteen year old son needing a father in the future isn't motivation enough to stop him...what can? He's Runnin' with the Devil.

To Rollie: Oh gosh, it's so true that
we all age and sooner than we think. When you get there, you realize how short life is. But Eddie Van Halen doesn't appear to be simply aging. He looks bombed and burned out. He has, obviously, spent one too many nights pouring too many toxins in his system. . The fact that he is a "legend" and has made his mark as a guitarist is all the more sad. Because when he dies way too soon from some form of cancer, ...THAT is what many people will remember. It's a darn shame that he is flying in the face of God and tossing his talent to the wind.

Certainly looks like he's bottomed-out.
Crack or meth is my guess. Too bad.
Maybe he can do a duet with Whitney.

He earned it. Keep on huffin' and puffin' Eduardo! No wonder Val checked out - imagine THAT yap (and breath!) on yer lips or mitt.

And you smokers out there - just keep going. It all hurts in the end and it's better that you all just die.

Just because a guy can wail on a guitar doesnt mean that hes a good caring person and from the looks of him he doesnt even care aabout his own well being. To listen to his rants lately you can tell hes F,ed up on something. Too much time on your hands Ed? How about limiting your partying to once a week and taking care of yourself the other 6 days. If not youll be dead soon. Your Choice. Oh and if you cant make amends with your bass player because he is Sammys friend and is selling hot sauce then you are a shallow petty man.
Like I said your choice buddy.

That was a really bad pic. He still looks bad, but not that bad. See the photos here.
