"Taking a page from Washington, the producers of "American Idol" and Fox TV have hired an independent counsel to determine whether judge Paula Abdul had an affair with a contestant on the hit talent show."
Independent counsel?!?!?

Moby says he has 'newfound respect' for Eminem. Did Em become a vegan? Open a tea joint? Shave his head? Did Em oppose the war in Iraq on his album? Nope, keep guessing.... Oh wait. That's it. The Iraq thing.

Boo hoo, Dave Mustaine is upset that former Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson used the Megadeth name in an ad for bass pedals. Mustaine says the ad infringes on a deal the two signed earlier this year, which states the Ellefson must clear it with Mustaine before using the Megadeth name to promote, well, anything. Stating that Ellefson played bass in Megadeth is a fact, dude. Calm the f*ck down. Btw, the Yahoo news page on the story used a curious accompanying photo. Is Mustaine threatening to kills chickens if Ellefson continues to use the Megadeth name?

Stop with the testicular metaphors!
"Exclusive to Cyclingnews - it's called "Wildflower". There's a song on the record called "Wildflower" that was inspired by Lance as well as his three kids. It also ties in to what's going on in the big picture, as far as our relationship, to what's going on in the world. The idea of the song is that no matter how chaotic it is, wildflowers will still spring up in the middle of nowhere. It's kind of a reminder, particularly when you look at his young children, how they gravitate to goodness and to light. After forming that hard shell it's what helps us get through our daily lives."

Okay you heard it here first. We were talking here in the Fuse web office about the new Chic, after someone saw the New York Magazine article about TomKat. And it spurred my lips to say the new phrase of the week: Crazy Chic.
In ther mid-1990s we were at the height of grundge, Cobain fueled popular culture soaked with Heroin Chic. But now junk isn't so cool anymore. Its all about CRAZY!

A short list of celebrities sporting Crazy Chic are:

Pop star Madonna has fallen in love with English country life, she has told American Vogue magazine. In a interview with the magazine, the singer said she sees England - and not the US - as "home". The 46-year-old also said she is very different from her overtly sexual image of the 1990s. Madonna added that she and Ritchie fell in love with their 1,000-acre estate, Ashcombe, on the Wiltshire/Dorset border. She said she wears sensible shoes around the estate, goes hunting and fishing, rides horses and looks after her flock of chickens.
So she's still getting it on with chicks?

You know, there's a heck of a city up there on the south shores of Lake Erie, proud, defiant and rich in musical history. Here is a photo. Good people, great music, indeed.

This isn't a bad idea:
"I kind of understood how the industry worked in terms of the royalties scheme, so I put up an auction as an individual saying that if you invest £3,000 in me, I'll give you a quarter percent of my life's earnings in music.
"Who would have thought that in a week's time, I would have got three people to invest £9,000.""

Nope - it's Covering The Bases, the debut album from Red Sox pitcher Bronson Arroyo. The album features covers of Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots tunes, as well as other 90s "classics" by artists like Goo Goo Dolls. Naturally, unofficial Boston anthem Dirty Water is included. Bronson mentions that teammate Kevin Millar often requests Creed. Note to Kevin Millar - hire a music consultant. You can afford it.
UPDATE: Backdoor Slider might also work as an album title.

Led Zeppelin named 'Ideal Supergroup.' Listeners of the UK's Planet Rock Radio were asked to name their ideal player for vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Who were the winners? Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham. IE, Led Zeppelin. But you know, in the game of rock n' roll, we are ALL winners.

See these guys? This is Pink Floyd. On Saturday evening they performed an historic set at Live 8. Historic because they hadn't played live in 11 years. Historic because they hadn't played with bassist and principal songwriter Roger Waters (second from left) since the Wall concerts of 1981. Historic because MTV had their VJs talk over the performance and then cut away to commercial during Comfortably Numb. Thank you, MTV. I would MUCH rather have seen ads for War Of The Worlds than watched a musical performance.
It wasn't just the Floyd. This happened during Madonna, Coldplay, REM, U2 and others. MTV kept reminding us we were watching a huge event, but consistently cut away from the performances. Why not do what the BBC did and show the ENTIRE thing (in fact, once the London show was over, the Beeb immediately aired the entire Philly show)? Why not show more music? Why talk over performances?
The critics agree:
