It's Like Feed The World, But Different

Posted on May 31, 2005 at 12:14 PM

Geldofweb

Look at that picture. Tell me why he don't like Mondays, or Tuesdays? Saint Bob Geldof is at it again. Twenty years (actually, twenty years minus eleven days) after he organized Live Aid, Geldof is readying Live 8, a pan-global concert event set to take place on July 2 in London, Paris, Rome, Berlin and Philadelphia (London and Philly were the two host cities of the original Live Aid). The event is meant to raise global awareness for the world's poverty issues, and is strategically scheduled days before the G8 summit in the UK. So far, the lineups are looking good:

London: Coldplay, Madonna, Paul McCartney, U2, Muse, REM, Sting, Keane, Stereophonics, Elton John and more.
Philadelphia: Dave Matthews Band, Bon Jovi, Will Smith, Jay-Z, Maroon 5 and more.
Berlin: Crosby, Stills and Nash, Brian Wilson, Lauryn Hill and more.
Paris: Jamiroquai, Placebo, Youssou N'Dour and more.
Rome: Duran Duran and more.

Fischerspooner Keeps It Real in NYC

Posted on May 27, 2005 at 05:06 PM

Thursday night saw the final show of Fischerspooner's May residency at New York club The Canal Room. In addition to Casey and Warren's usual display of musical and visual dazzlement, the show featured other acts that the mainstream zeitgeist may find odd, but that fit right in at a late night Fischerspooner show. Check it:

Casey Spooner wows the crowd:

Countersue, NBC, Countersue!

Posted on May 26, 2005 at 11:30 AM

Vince Neil dropped an F-Bomb on NBC. NBC banned the Crue. The Crue sued, and the words 'constitution', 'motley' and 'crue' were used in the same sentence for the first time ever. The Crue should lighten up; it wasn't like Fox banned them.

Here is a photo of Vince Neil, shortly after leaving a 'package' at NBC's Burbank offices.

I Don't Know If I'd Go So Far, Either

Posted on May 23, 2005 at 12:04 PM

"I don't know if I'd go so far as to say Radiohead's music is spiritual, but it's something I like to put on when I'm lying on my bed thinking."

Concertgoers discuss the secular, the sacred and, naturally, Bono at a weekend Christian rock concert in Toronto.

Quotes:

"[U2] are delivering a positive message of hope and redemption, unlike a lot of secular bands," says Entwistle, before adding he wishes Bono wouldn't swear on TV.

"I would be more open to listening to Eminem than I would be to listening to Britney Spears, who doesn't have anything to say."

"Are they in it for the money? Or are they in it for God's name?"

The show featured Christian acts such as Newsboys, Kutless, Delirious? and Audio Adrenaline (pictured).

Jaredjesseweb

If you've heard the Video IQ theme song, or noticed the music in the background of Ultimate Fuse Gig: The VJ Search, then you've heard the music of Group Sounds. Well, we at Fuse don't have them all to ourselves; the NYC band has been building a name for themselves by playing consistently energetic, fun and pretense-free rock that would get even your grandma on a rockin' stroll.

Even the NY Post's Page Six took notice.

So, What Do You Really Think?

Posted on May 16, 2005 at 03:51 PM

The new Taking Back Sunday video has shaken their fanbase to its very core... Check the following from today's Oven Fresh boards:

Taking Back Sunday - Set Phasers To Stun
Briana from Jax., FL - Posted on: 05/16/05
We're here to talk about what the !*$&# we think about the video (which is it's a let down for one of the most amazing songs on the album, with the most amazing vocals) not what the !*$&# you want to do to Adam. Talk about the damn video and not who your virgin 15 year old ass gets wet when it sees Adam. Not denying that he's attractive, but grow the !*$&# up you skank ass whores. This isn't the Backstreet Boys, he's not Nick. shut the !*$&# up about having his babies, #&^@$ like that's probably why he shaved his head. You like a band because of the music they make, it reaches you, touches your soul, you can relate, not because of how pretty the lead singer is. People like you give the rest of us female TBS fans a bad name. We're automatically suppose to drop to our knees at the mention of his name thanks to you. I can't !*$&#ing stand. I'll !*$&#ing kill you all, you're pathetic...DIE!

Taking Back Sunday - Set Phasers To Stun
Briana from Jax., FL - Posted on: 05/16/05
This video is the utmost worst. Raise your hand if you agree. They said making videos was hard and they didn't like the make-up BS, but c'mon. If you don't like make-up don't wear any, but making a video and not being in it is as low as you can sink. It's like you want all the rewards for a video (air-time, press, and other ways of getting your name out there) without any of the work. If any of us were into interpretive dancing, we'd be out there doing it, not sitting in our rooms trying to play your music on our guitars feeling horrible because we think we suck and your music deserves better than us butchering it. You guys can't cut out performing in your videos, YOUR PERFORMERS IT'S WHAT YOU DO. We like seeing you perform in your videos cause we may not get to see you perform live. You don't play every town on every tour, and as you get bigger you're going to be allowed to play less and less places for lack of suitable venues. So how bout one for the underdog who can't travel. And if you're getting tired of performing in videos, than do more than just that, you rarely have. Most of your videos have been nothing but you performing. If you want more, than do more. I know you're not actors, but do a little more and have some fun with it. It's not worth it if you're not enjoying it, but it won't make it if we're not enjoying it either. We've come back from the brink before, but for the record you lost alot of us then too.

People Have Opinions About Music

Posted on May 11, 2005 at 03:15 PM

And some of those people post comments right here on our Fuse Oven Fresh boards. To "wit", the following statements regarding concert-going in Ohio:

Plain White T's - Take Me Away
Mikayla from - Posted on: 05/11/05
I saw these guys a long ass time ago, at a small show in Cinci, I got hit in the head with there drum, but I don't hold a grudge, I laugh about it a lot.

Mikayla, you are an optimist. Next up are the much-buzzed about Bay Area punk band Tsunami Bomb. Gaby fears a mainstream breakthrough, but Taco Joe is just happy to like the band for what they are:

Tsunami Bomb - Dawn On Funeral Day
gaby from san diego - Posted on: 05/11/05
this is such a good song, but its too bad to see this band go mainstream

Tsunami Bomb - Dawn On Funeral Day
Taco Joe from Houston Texas - Posted on: 05/11/05
So i Wanna say this band is awesome the video is awesome and Agent M is Awesome. I just met the band when i went to see them two days ago.

Thanks, Taco Joe! Finally, the reigning kings of Long Island. No, not John (Loser) Rocker and the Long Island Ducks, but Taking Back Sunday. Danny thinks they me be Hungarian, while Maria has just two words for you:

Taking Back Sunday - Set Phasers To Stun
danny from cleveland - Posted on: 05/11/05
i heard a rumor that these kids are from hungary? anyone know if that's true? oh, btw, love that video...get out and vote!!!

Cold Wedding? Nurse Kenny? Seasick, Yet Still Schlock?

Posted on May 10, 2005 at 12:35 PM

Renee Zellweger and country star Kenny Chesney have married on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.

"According to Country Weekly magazine, Chesney long ago named Zellweger as his favorite actress and was inspired to write his 1999 hit ''You Had Me From Hello'' after seeing her in ''Jerry Maguire.''"

Anyone else find that creepy?

Bonoweb

Recently, Bono led 18,000 Fly-worshipping, poverty-hating canucks in a political bashing that would have made Karl Rove proud. During a Vancouver gig last week, St. Bono gave out Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin's phone number and asked the acolytes present to pester Paul into guaranteeing more foreign aid from Canada. The P.M. has been going through a rough time; he is presiding over a scandal of his own doing, he is barely hanging on to power, and now U2 is on his ass. It gets worse for Martin: he told reporters the next day that he still considers Bono a "friend." Mr. Martin, get a life. That's right - the Fuseblog just told the Prime Minister of Canada to get a life!
