Apparently George Bush isn't the one, at least in the eyes of the songwriter who wrote the tune that Bush has been blaring at campaign stops lately.
Bush supporters have been treated to the 1970s classic, "Still the One," as the President took and left the stage at recent campaign appearances. Only problem is the guy who wrote the song says the Bushies never got permission to use the song and now he wants the Repubs to cease and desist.
John Hall, who after his music career became a Democratic county legislator in upstate New York, said he was shocked when he was watching TV and saw the Bush campaign using his song.
Hall does not want his song used to help Bush get re-elected, and has sent the campaign a cease and desist letter to protect his copyright.

On the heels of the U2 iPod announcement, Apple today announced the Ashlee Simpson SNL iPod, or at least they tried to but their publicist hit the wrong button and announced another product altogether.

Ashlee Simpson followed her lip-synching fiasco on SNL by actually singing live on last night's Radio Music Awards.
After seeing Ashlee actually try to sing, one thing is fairly obvious...she should've stuck to lip-synching.

Better get the vocal track ready and cued up to the right song for Ashlee Simpson as the now-notorious lip-syncher takes to the stage again tonight at the "Radio Music Awards" tonight at 9pm ET on NBC.
After being exposed on SNL, I have to give her a little credit for taking the stage only a few days after she embarrased herself on national TV.
Let me guess...the performance tonight will be so strong trhat I could swear I was listening to the CD...

One of the greatest mantras of showbusiness is the fact that. "The show must go on."
It's a mantra that obviously escaped Ashlee Simpson on Saturday. After being completely busted for lip-synching while appearing on Saturday Night Live, Simpson simply walked offstage and instead of going on, the show went to commercial.
To watch Ashlee's lip-synch fiasco, click here.
Here's what happened: Ashlee's first song, "Pieces of Me," goes off without a hitch (if you consider the fact that she was never really singing it "without a hitch," that is.)
Ashlee takes the stage for her second song of the night and gets her introduction from host Jude Law. While she stands there waiting for her band to start, instead what we hear is the pre-recorded vocal track for "Pieces of Me" all over again. The band doesn't really know what to do, so they start playing the song again, while Ashlee, not knowing what to do either, starts dancing some kind of hoedown jig.
Instead of stopping the lip-synch vocal track and actually singing the song she's supposed to, Ashlee simply walked off the stage, forcing SNL to abruptly go to commercial. It was one of the most bizarre incidents on live television since Janet Jackson exposed herself during the Super Bowl. To make matters even worse, Simpson came on at the end of the show and blamed the mistake on her band. Weak.
The fact of the matter is that anyone who watched a few minutes of Simpson's MTV reality show would know that the girl can't sing. She could barely make it through a rehearsal without freaking out because she couldn't sing the songs. I wouldn't be suprised if she didn't even sing on the album itself after watching how much help she needed from a vocal coach to try and get through it. It's like Milli Vanilli all over again.
The sad thing is that I doubt many of the fans that buy into Ashlee and her polished, managed appearance and her "music" (that is really just a poor excuse for a marketing campaign) won't even care that she can't pull it off live. Very weak.
Ashlee Simpson - now appearing in your living room! Just press "play" on your CD player and it'll be just like a live appearance!

First, Eminem took aim at Michael Jackson and now he's setting his sights on President Bush.
"Mosh," the Bush-bashing track off Em's upcoming Encore album, was all over the Internet yesterday after a copy was leaked.
Dr. Dre produced "Mosh," which features lyrics such as "Let the President answer on higher anarchy/Strap him with an AK-47, let him go fight his own war/Let him impress daddy that way," Eminem raps, adding, "No more blood for oil."
Wacko Jacko, Dubya...wonder who Eminem will go after next?

Bob Geldof is making news today with his plans to bring back Band Aid and it's 1984 hit, "Do They Know It's Christmas?" with a slew of new artists.
Geldof is trying to bring bands such as Coldplay, The Darkness, Dido, Oasis and Robbie Williams into the fold this time. Africa is still the focus of the charitable event, with the tragedy in Sudan getting the main focus. Band Aid will once again attempt to raise millions to fight hunger in Africa.
The original Band Aid in 1985 featured stars like Simon LeBon, Bono, Sting and George Michael, raised more than $10 million to fight hunger and eventually spawned the Live Aid concert event.
Geldof re-recorded the song in 1989 with late '80s favorites such as Kylie Minogue and Wet Wet Wet.

It was hosts Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala caught in their own "Crossfire" last weekend when "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart was a guest.
Stewart lambasted Carlson in particular and the show's format in general, charging that shows such as "Crossfire" are actually hurting America by acting as a platform for highly partisan politicians. The entire exchange was bizarre, but way more exciting than any episode of "Crossfire" I've ever seen.
Well the incident has generated so much buzz and so much interest that the Internet is struggling to keep up with the many requests to watch the heated exchange.
You gotta love someone who has the b@lls to go one someone else's show and call them a "dick" to their face, especially if that person if the bowtie-wearing neo-Conservative Tucker Carlson.
Watch Stewart in action here.

Courtney Love pleaded guilty today to disorderly conduct for hitting a clubgoer with a microphone stand during an appearance in NYC a while back.
The judge was lenient on Love, who was ordered to pay $2,336 to cover medical expenses, must complete a drug-treatment program and also not commit anymore crimes for a year (uh-oh, that one could be tough).
Love is still up on felony assault charges in California for allegedly attacking a woman with a liquor bottle at the home of an ex-boyfriend.
You know, Love's life is such a complete trainwreck at this point that she's just too easy a target for smart-ass bloggers such as myself...Has anyone seen Francis Bean?

Angelina Jolie has been named "Sexiest Woman Alive" in the latest edition of Esquire magazine, their "Women We Love" issue.
The cat-astrophe that was Catwoman didn't seem to put a dent in Halle Berry's hotness, who was second on Esquire's list.
While I can't argue with either one of those picks, I can easily take issue with #3: Britney "Just call me Federline" Spears. I can think of a plethora of better picks at #3.
And who took home the "Sexiest Woman Dead" award? Esquire's not saying, but my money's on Grace Kelly or Natalie Wood.

The 3-CD Nirvana boxed set, "With the Lights Out," to be released Nov.. 23, will feature 68 unreleased tracks by the band.
Included are Kurt Cobain's home demos, live tracks and studio outtakes. The included DVD will feature the band playing a house party in 1987, as well as studio and rehearsal clips.
The box set was originally scheduled to be released in Christmas 2001, the 10-year anniversary of "Nevermind," but a lawsuit by Courtney Love ground things to a halt.
Things finally got worked out (guess Love needed some cash to pay her legal bills) and the set will be in stores soon.

Britney Spears announced to the world today that she's taking a break from her career to watch movies and television, hang out with her deadweight husband, and fret about the childhood she missed because she was too busy making a bazillion dollars. Poor Britney, we all feel so sorry for her.
At least she was nice enough to (supposedly) write this letter to her fans on her website:
10.15.2004
Dear Fans,
I am going to start writing this column now as often as possible. The reason is so I can talk directly to you, my fans, who have stuck by me & who continue to support me. Also, I'm not going to be as busy as my Mom. She's running behind my sister like crazy! I am also going to take some time off to enjoy life. I've actually learned to say "NO!" With this newly found freedom, its like people don't know how to act around me. Should we talk to her like we did when she was 16 or like the Icon everyone says she is? My prerogative right now is to just chill & let all of the other overexposed blondes on the cover of Us Weekly be your entertainment... GOOD LUCK GIRLS!! I'm sorry that my life seemed like it was all over the place the past 2 years, it's probably because IT WAS! I understand now what they mean when they talk about child stars. Going & going & going is all I've ever know since I was 15 years old. It's amazing what advisors will push you to do, even if it means taking a naive young blonde girl & putting her on the cover of every magazine.
I know now that my knee gave out on me this past summer so that I would have no choice but to stop. My body was shutting down and needed rest. It's funny how the Man upstairs works. Right now, I have to go-- I really want to watch "Saved" with Mandy Moore and re-runs of Sex and the City. I want to enjoy all of the simple things that I missed over the past few years due to working way too much.
Being married is GREAT and I can't wait to start my family! There is so much change going on right now... not only with me, but in the world, as well. So, the next time you see my face, hear one of my songs or even if I'm the topic of your next conversation, please remember that times are changing & so am I.
Love always,
Britney
PS I look forward to writing you all again soon. Kevin and I are finally able to take our Honeymoon!!

Rapper KRS-One isn't doing much musically these days, but he's doing a good job of running his mouth lately.
On a panel discussion at the New Yorker Festival recently, KRS-One declared his solidarity with Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden by saying that he and other African-Americans, "cheered when 9/11 happened."
"I say that proudly," the Boogie Down Productions founder went on, insisting that, before the attack, security guards kept black people out of the Trade Center "because of the way we talk and dress. So when the planes hit the building, we were like, 'Mmmm - justice.'"
"The atrocity of 9/11 "doesn't affect us [the hip-hop community]," he said. "9/11 happened to them, not us," he added, explaining that by "them" he meant "the rich ... those who are oppressing us. RCA or BMG, Universal, the radio stations."
KRS-One also sneered at efforts by other rappers to get young people to vote.
"Voting in a corrupt society adds more corruption," he added. "America has to commit suicide if the world is to be a better place."
Well I guess if your career is in the sh#tter, you gotta do something to get attention.
