The best reason to fly Song, Delta's new low-cost airlines? You get to watch FUSE while you're sitting on your a** in your seat!
That's right, every Song seat has its own video screen that lets you watch TV from the Dish Network, including FUSE.
Noticeably absent...that other "music video" channel...coming soon to a Pan-Am or Eastern flight near you!

Fans looking forward to seeing Christina Aguilera writhe around the stage in next to nothing this summer will be bummed to hear that the singer has called off her entire summer tour on doctor's orders. Seems the sexy songstress stripped her pipes (vocal chords, that is) while in the studio recording her next release.
Fans looking for a scantlily clad siren will have to settle for Britney.

For those that always suspected Dubya was a puppet, now you can pull the strings yourself (if Cheney and Rumsfeld will give 'em up long enough).
bushspeech.org is a pretty amazing Flash application that lets you string together words or phrases from Bush's speeches to form your own. You can even save your creation, listen to ones made by other users and vote for your favorites.
There's just something classic about watching George W. tell you, "I wanna unit as big as the state of California." Buck up, George, we all do.

eMusic Live is a cool new service which allows you to go see a live, indie band and then take a copy of the show home with you and listen to it over and over, as well as share it with your friends. Best of all, it's totally legal.
Here's how it works:
1. You have to see a show at a venue that has the eMusic Live kiosk. At launch, we're looking at Maxwell's, The Casbah, The Blind Pig, The Cats Cradle, The Double Door, Schubas and The Metro, but look for the list to expand if the service starts to take off. eMusic is targeting clubs that feature mostly young, indie bands, so don't expect Beyonce at Madison Square Garden in the list.
2. After the show, you simply walk up to the touch-screen kiosk and buy the compatible memory device. It's a $20 keychain USB drive that will store up to 110 mins of music.
3. Once you have the mini-drive, you just insert it into the kiosk and the show you just saw is loaded onto it (for a $10 charge). Once you get home, you simply slap the music on your hard drive. You're free to share it with as many people as you want.
4. You can then wipe the mini-drive clean and use it over and over again.
Very cool. Wish I had something like this at the thousands of shows I've seen over the years.

No, not THAT Michael, George Michael.
He may not be the King of Pop (who would really want to be?), but he has been crowned King Of British Radio. No word yet on who'll be his Queen.
Michael recently topped a survey of the most-played artists on British radio over the past 20 years. Elton John settled in behind Michael for the #2 spot, while Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Bryan Adams rounded out the top 5.
So hearing this news makes me think of two things:
1. I'm glad I don't live in the UK. Any place that puts George Michael above Bryan Adams is not for me.
2. I'm glad I never listen to the radio.

Walk in to any Baskin-Robbins ice cream store tonight and you'll get a free scoop...and someone else may get a chance to read. It's the fifth year of the "Free Scoop Night" promotion which benefits First Book, a national non-profit that provides low-income families with their first new books.
It's free, it's ice cream and it's a good cause. Everybody wins.

It's happened before - The Beatles quit in 1970, The Clash in 1985, The Who in 1982, 1989 and 1999 and now Guided By Voices in 2004. On Saturday night at New York's Bowery Ballroom, the legendary Dayton, Ohio indie rockers Guided By Voices announced that this year would be their last as a recording and touring entity.
Perhaps most disturbing is that ConnieNYC (IE, me) was at the Bowery show, and it is not the first time that I've been involved at a "final"-type show for rock bands whose names begin with the letter G. In 1995, I was at the final Grateful Dead concert (at Soldier Field in Chicago). In 2002, i was at what still may prove to be the final Guns n' Roses concert (at New York's Madison Square Garden). And now, the GBV show during which leader Robert Pollard annouced the group's demise.
Anyway, this weekend I am off to see the Getup Kids, Good Charlotte and Green Day.
Here's to you, Guided By Voices.

Contrary to rumors flying around the Internet last week (which even made their way to a few newswires) Metallica frontman James Hetfield and Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong are still alive and kicking.
Seems that on Thursday, the big rumor was Hetfield had committed suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills and on Friday, the dirt was that Armstrong had been killed in a car crash the day before.
Spokespeople for both artists confirm that yes, they are still alive, and very much hard at work.

Rock star and web/interactive music pioneer David Bowie has become one of the first major artists to jump on the remix or "mash-up" bandwagon by allowing fans to mix two of his songs together as part of a six-week contest.
Fans will be able to splice a song from Bowie's latest release, Reality, with any other track from his back catalog and submit the remix to a panel of judges (which includes the man-formerly-known as Ziggy himself) who will pick a winner and runners-up from a shortlist determined by public vote.
Check out all the details on www.davidbowie.com.
Bowie has always been on the interactive forefront by being one of the first major artists to provide fans the opportunity to use his web site to co-write songs, choose album art and access to web-only concerts and other exclusive content for his subscribers.
Kudos to Bowie again for taking something that scares most record labels (remember the legal action against the guy who did the Jay-Z/Beatles Grey Album remix?) and turning it into something positive (and legal) for his fans.

Red Hot Chili Pepper guitarist John Frusciante recently made demo and unreleased versions of tracks from his latest solo album, "Shadows Collide With People," available on his website.
Frusciante posted the tracks to give people a rawer take on some of the songs on the album. He performed most of the songs in his living room and recorded to 8-track.
Also look for Frusciante to provide guitars, synth and vocals to the upcoming solo album from Mars Volta frontman Omar Rodriguez Lopez.

Ever wanted to know how to make your finger look like an a**? I thought so. Your prayers have been answered in the instructional website that guides you through the step-by-step process of turning your (hopefully) clean little finger into something a little dirtier. People may think you're checking out porn (again) but its really the secret finger trick.
While you're there, you can also check out finger a**es from around the world! Norway seems to be especially proficient.

Eminem seems like an unlikely candidate to be pleading a case to the U.N., but he did recently...and won.
The rapper was one of the first to present a case to the U.N.'s World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a new arm of the international organization aimed at protecting artists' property rights worldwide. It seems someone in the U.K. had the bright idea to register the Internet domain www.eminemmobile.com and start selling Slim Shady ringtones and picture messages without ever asking the man himself. Oops.
Eminem also recently sued Apple for using "Lose Yourself" in a TV commercial without permission.
We'd post a pic of Eminem to accompany this post, but we're too afraid he'd sue us also.

Doesn't mean you can't make millions of dollars and help the troops in Iraq. Just ask Shyne and Suge Knight.
Imprisoned rapper Shyne is close to signing a $3 million deal with Island Def Jam Records this week even though he's stuck behind bars until 2009 on charges of gun possession and assault. Remember the big P. Diddy/J-Lo nightclub trial? Shyne was the one that took the fall for that one. Can't help but chuckle when reading that the album will be released on an imprint label called Gangland Records. Of course it will be.
In the other rapper-behind-bars news this week, Death Row Records founder Suge Knight announced he will put together an album to benefit the families of soldiers in Iraq once he's released from prison at the end of the month. Knight has been in jail over parole violations. Always knew he was a big softie, right?

Yes, it's possible, according to Blender magazine, and it's "We Built This City" by Starship.
The corporate rock anthem by the former counterculture icons (remember Jefferson Airplane?) was recently voted "Worst Song Ever" by Blender magazine in its rundown of the top 50 worst songs of all time. Rounding out the top three was Billy Ray Cyrus at #2 with "Achy Breaky Heart" and Wang Chung at #3 with "Everybody Have Fun Tonight."
Obviously anything by Clay Aiken was too new to be considered.

'Tis the season to get all political and sh**, and who better to lead the charge against old George W. than a bunch of punks?
Some of the best punk bands in the country recently hooked up to contribute songs to Rock Against Bush Vol. 1 While the cause should be pretty self-explanatory, the lineup is pretty stellar. Sum 41, Alkaline Trio, The Get Up Kids, The Offspring, Descendants, Ministry, Jello Biafra, The Ataris, Pennywise, Denali, NOFX, New Found Glory and Social Distortion are just some of the bands you'll find on volume 1. The Rock Against Bush tour is out and about as well, so look for dates in your area.
The CD is brought to you by the people over at www.punkvoter.com where you'll find a ton of voting resources, links to register to vote, guest columns from many of the artists featured on Rock Against Bush, screensavers, buddy icons, cartoons and more.
Whatever you think about the message, you have to admire the guys for adhering to their punk ethos of social cause and change and for mobilizing young people to get out and vote.

Many bands on their way up (and big names looking for a rare, small venue treat) play the esteemed Bowery Ballroom on NYC's Lower East Side. Though only six or so years old, the venue has become beloved beyond its years.
The latest act to play a legendary show? UK rockers Muse, who attack with a voice reminiscent of Radiohead, Placebo-like bass, and guitar solos that recall mid-80s Prince. The NYC show was rare (here's a camera phone shot taken before the encore from in front of the stage); US tours are infrequent. Our advice: SEE THEM.

The WB (yes, that WB) Network has just announced plans to develop a biopic about the life of Kurt Cobain. The movie will most likely air next season and will trace Cobain's life from his childhood to his unfortunate end.
Don't expect a raw, uncensored look at his life and times from the squeaky-clean WB, however. Producers are billing it as a cautionary tale complete with public service announcements and the like. Despite this, they are promising it won't be too "preachy."
Ugh.
Ok, so now maybe the thought of the Beastie Boys on The OC isn't all that bad.

I've been trying to come up with one and I guess now I've found it.

I'm still trying to decide how I feel about the revelation that the new Beastie Boys single ("Ch-Check It Out") will make its debut on 90210, er, The OC. Being that the album, To The 5 Boroughs is an homage to NYC and includes some fiery rants against George Bush and the policies of his administration, it makes perfect sense that the single would debut in a Fox series about rich teens who like to hook up. Um, maybe not.
But at least the episode's plot lines are in line with the Beasties' political stance. The boys of the OC go to Vegas for an impromptu bachelor party while the ladies stir up trouble back home with their bachelorette party.
Um, maybe not.

I've always wanted sparks to fly when I'm dragging my tail and now it's a reality!
The Tailviper is a $14.95 skateboard accessory that attaches to your deck and produces a "Nasty Blast of Sparks" when you drag your tail. The amount of sparks created depends on the amount of force applied, the length of your dragging and the coarseness of the skating surface.
Hmmm, maybe something we'll see on an upcoming episode of 4Play?
